The Turkish automobile and light commercial vehicle market, which entered a major downward trend as of the second half of 2018, continued this downward trend in the first 4 months of 2019. For this reason, the contraction in the automobile and light commercial vehicle market in 2019 has reached the level of 50%. Forecasts for May indicate that 30 thousand vehicles will be sold, which is the lowest level of the last 15 years.
The most important factor in the decline in automobile purchases is undoubtedly the exchange rate, which is in a constantly increasing trend. When you add the high SCT and VAT rates to the high loan rates, we can say that owning a car is an extremely difficult thing. While brands are organizing various campaigns to mobilize the market, the state is trying to provide the necessary support with SCT reductions and scrap incentives.
Last week, the SCT reduction law proposal applied to scrap vehicles was submitted to the Presidency of the Assembly. If the offer is accepted, the scrap discount from 10 thousand TL will be increased to 15 thousand TL. If the discount of 15 thousand TL is accepted, the most affordable cars in Turkey will be as follows;
Dacia Sandero 1.0 Ambiance – 60 thousand 900 TL
Renault Symbol 1.0 dCi Joy – 60 thousand 900 TL
Hyundai i10 1.0 – 65 thousand 400 TL
Renault Clio Joy 1.2 – 65 thousand 400 TL
Fiat Egea Sedan 1.4 – 68 thousand 900 TL
Toyota Yaris 1.0 – 72 thousand 100 TL
Fiat Panda 1.2 – 72 thousand 900 TL
KIA Picanto 1.0 – 72 thousand 900 TL
Dacia Logan MCV Ambiance – 73 thousand 900 TL
Hyundai i20 1.2 – 75 thousand 800 TL
