Blue Whale Game’s Deadly Message Revealed

Esra Alataş, Head of Mental Health Department of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, gave information about the Blue Whale game, which caused the death of many young people. Explaining the ‘game’ at the Parliamentary Information Technologies Addiction Research Commission, Alataş said, “The instructions are instructions based on disrupting the psychology of the person. When it comes to the 50th day, it suggests death with the instruction ‘die, you will be reborn anyway’.”

Underlining that the game has turned into a serious psychological and cyber attack, Alataş used the following statements while explaining the game:

“How is it played? A link is sent to the person over the internet. This can be on WhatsApp or any other social media area. Instructions are given over this link for 50 days. Instructions are based on disrupting the psychology of the person. They remove it in the middle of the night and say, ‘How is it played?’ It gives extremely risky 50-day instructions, such as “watch that horror movie at this hour” or “harm yourself, scratch your arm, send us your photo.” By the 50th day, “die, you’ll be reborn anyway.” They are suggesting death on orders or by blackmailing them with the personal information they receive in the meantime.”

Esra Alataş underlined that awareness activities should be carried out on the conscious use of information technologies, social media and the internet. In addition, the development of training programs; She stated that especially children and young people should be encouraged to use information technologies beneficially.
