GTX 1660 Ti Gaming Performance

NVIDIA’s 12th generation Turing GPU architecture is the most advanced GPU design ever made. NVIDIA engineers have optimized the Turing SM (Streaming Multiprocessor) to outperform previous generation GPUs through a series of direct architectural improvements.

The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is based on a brand new “TU116” Turing GPU that has been carefully designed to balance performance, power and cost. The TU116 includes all Turing Shader innovations that improve performance and efficiency, including Concurrent Floating Point and Integer Operations, a Unified Cache Architecture with larger L1 cache, and Adaptive Shading.

This new design enables the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti to offer better performance in modern games with complex shaders. The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is 1.5x faster in some games than the GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, allowing gamers to experience 120 FPS at 1080p in popular online games like Fortnite and APEX Legends.

Migrating from GTX 960

Today, nearly two-thirds of GeForce gamers use GPUs with GeForce GTX 960 performance. The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti offers up to 3x the performance boost over the GeForce GTX 960 and is a good upgrade for gamers with previous generation graphics cards who want higher framerates in their favorite games.

As the “GTX” designation indicates, the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti does not include the RT and Tensor Cores found in GeForce RTX graphics cards. To bring the Turing architecture to the sub-$300 graphics segment, NVIDIA had to make a decision on the types and numbers of cores used in the GPU. As a result, to achieve the ideal balance of performance, power, and cost, NVIDIA has focused the GTX 1660 Ti’s core solely on graphics processing.
