According to the smartphone industry report released by Counterpoint Research, Huawei’s growth in the European market in the first quarter of 2019 is quite staggering.
Huawei managed to increase its share in the entire European market by 11% from the first quarter of 2018 to the first quarter of 2019. The Chinese company experienced its biggest increase in the European market in Western Europe. Huawei increased its market share here by 18% in the same period.
If we compare with other companies, Samsung was able to increase its share in the European market by only 1%. Apple, another formidable competitor of Huawei, experienced a 2% decrease in its market share here, while the Chinese Xiaomi suffered a 1% decrease.
These results clearly demonstrate Huawei’s success in Europe. So, is it possible for the tension between the USA and Huawei to slow down the company’s growth? While the numbers here show that things are going well for the Chinese company, they were the numbers obtained before the sanction.
The company cannot do business with its major suppliers, Qualcomm and ARM, and Google has withdrawn support for some of its services from the Chinese company. All these experiences will negatively affect the marketing process of the company. Even if Huawei manages to reduce the tension with the USA somehow, it will experience a decrease in phone sales.
