In May, we talked about a new motherboard model that we are waiting for, called the MAG B660M Mortar Max. MSI is preparing to offer BCLK overclocking support for Intel Alder Lake processors by adding the Renesas RC26008 external clock generator to its new Max model. Moreover, if the leaks are true, the Renesas chip will bring PCIe 5.0 support to this Micro ATX DDR4 motherboard.
Earlier in the year, we learned that it is possible to overclock with 12th generation non-K processors. In this context, we have seen low-budget processors such as the Core i5-12400, Core i3 -12100 and even the Celeron 6900 achieve impressive frequency speeds. The bad thing is that we needed premium models like ASRock Z690 Aqua or MSI MEG Z690I Unify for BCLK overclocking.
MAG B660M Mortar Max will be a very important motherboard with its affordable price and DDR4 support. Judging by the sharing of Twitter user Chi11eddog, the model named Max will be released in July. In addition to overclocking support, MSI is preparing to offer features such as extended heatsink design, M.2 Frozr Shield coolers, memory speed technology and core boost digital power design.
