Mathematics Statement by Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk

In his statements on Twitter, Minister Selçuk stated that the mathematics course is compulsory for students, and that it is not possible for any student to advance to the next grade without taking the mathematics course, and that this is very clear and if there is anyone who claims otherwise, the reasons for this need not be discussed. Statements were also made by the Ministry of National Education on the subject. In these statements, it was underlined that mathematics is a compulsory course for 9th, 10th and 11th grade students, and it was stated that students should take this course. Stating that the mathematics course was structured as a supradisciplinary career course in the 12th grade, the Ministry of National Education stated that no matter which course they choose, the students have to use their knowledge of mathematics. In addition, while the students were given the opportunity to deepen in their own fields in the 12th grade, the expression “we are working to prepare them for life” was used.
