Micron Announces 7.68TB Capacity SATA SSDs

Micron has recently announced the release of the world’s first 176-layer NAND SATA SSD. These drives were designed for data center workloads, but 176-tier SSDs will be rolled out to a wider audience in the future.

Built on the 11th generation SATA architecture, the Micron 5400 SSD series offers significantly better performance than traditional hard disk drives (HDDs) while being built for a wide range of usage scenarios. Servers that already rely on HDDs can upgrade to next-generation SSDs that offer high performance and capacity while still using the same interface.

Micron claims the 5400 SSD series offers performance, reliability, and durability benefits, along with less downtime and longer lifespan than other leading SATA SSDs. The 5400 PRO family comes with storage options between 240 GB and 7.68 TB. The 5400 MAX family, on the other hand, has product options that offer space between 480 GB and 3.84 TB.
