In its latest study, the British National Cyber ​​Security Center (NCSC) determined the most common 100 thousand passwords that were determined to be leaked. Based on this, the Center announced that the password listed as ‘123456’ is used in 23.2 million accounts worldwide. Thus, the most used password, also the most leaked password, undisputedly took the lead.

The NCSC achieved this result using data from the website Have I Been Pwned (HIBP), which provides the ability to check if email addresses or passwords have been involved in a known data leak.

According to the research, the closest password after ‘123456’, ‘123456789’, was used 7.7 million times, leaving the door open to cybercriminals.
