Some players complain that Valve did not fall for the racist rhetoric and insults made in Dota 2. Professional Dota 2 player Alexei ‘Solo’ Berezin agrees on this. Berezin, a professional Dota 2 player on the Virtus Pro team, said that Valve will boycott Dota 2 unless it addresses the racist rhetoric of Dota 2 player Sebastien ‘7ckngMad’ Debs.
Debs, the Russian opponent on the opposite team in the last match on the subject ‘3. He made sentences such as ‘the dog of the world’ in which there are many bad words that are said as a generalization to the Russians. You can find the screenshots of the spoken words here.
In his speech, Berezin said, “Valve needs to take a precaution against racist rhetoric as soon as possible. Unless he takes a transparent and consistent stance on this issue, I will not attend the Epicenter Major that will be held in my country.”
Commenting on the subject on Reddit in the future, Debs said that he did not generalize, that there were two toxic players on the opposite team and that they were both Russians. Adding that he only calls them Russians because they are both Russians, Debs said that he apologized for the words he used.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Valve took action on the issue. He previously penalized Carlo ‘Kuku’ Palad for making racist remarks against Chinese teams.
