While Samsung focused its work on mobile photography on improving quality and taking wider-angle photos, Huawei preferred to offer users more zoom. As a result, it is a matter of debate which company offers better camera performance, but it is possible to say that Huawei brings more sound with its 5x optical, 10x hybrid and 50x digital zoom features.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics, a subsidiary of Samsung, introduced a new camera module with 5x optical zoom. Although this camera module, which has also started mass production, seems larger than the 2x optical zoom module currently used on paper, the 2x optical zoom module has a thickness of 6mm, while the 5x optical zoom module has a thickness of 5mm.
According to the statement, Samsung’s 5x optical zoom module uses the periscope method, as we have seen in the Huawei P30 Pro. In this method, the excessively large sensor is placed inside the device in a side position, while the light is reflected to the sensor with a mirror facing the back of the device so that it can receive the light. The first Samsung smartphone with 5x optical zoom is likely to be the Galaxy Note10.
