Chinese mobile technology giant Huawei has been getting bad news in a row in recent days. First, Google, the last Intel and Qualcomm, and finally ARM announced that they suspended their cooperation with Huawei. These overlapping statements caused Huawei’s future in the smartphone industry to be questioned.
Not all partners have turned their backs on Huawei, though. Taiwanese TSMC, the world’s largest processor manufacturer, said that they will not be affected by the US bans on Huawei and that they will continue to supply processors to Huawei. Thus, Huawei will not need to look for a new partner for processor production.
TSMC produces not only Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin processors, but also Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, MediaTek’s Helio and Apple’s A-series processors. Considering that Huawei is one of the best-selling smartphone companies in the world, we can say that Huawei is an important source of income for TSMC.
